LGBTQ+ Community

A Brief History

The LGBTQ+ community in Sri Lanka has long been subjected to social discrimination, legal marginalization, and invisibility. Though societal attitudes are slowly shifting, outdated laws and lack of understanding continue to hinder equality. CEF began working with LGBTQ+ individuals in response to the urgent need for safe spaces, mental health support, and advocacy for equal rights and protections.
